Here I am at the church waiting to greet some people. That's Mel feet over there on the right. I like Mel he knows who to scratch my ears in just the right place.
Here I am with one of the nurses on a hospital visit. They like me at the hospital. I know I am not facing the camera but I really love to be petted and these people love it when they per me. In this next picture is a picture of Walt the patient I visited that day. His wife was there and she petted me quite a lot. I am so happy when I can be of service!
This picture below is me at the foot of Walt's bed. He was happy to see me as well as his wife. That's her hand you see on the edge of the picture.

Comfort Dog Ministry
Last week was an interesting week. One of the Pastors I have text study with called me and told me that a Comfort Dog was available and he asked of I was interested, my answer was of course yes. Well after talking with Lutheran Church Charities about what is expected of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and the dog I was convinced I needed to act upon this opportunity. On Friday Pastor Tim and I drove to pick up two dogs, one for him and one for me. And then we brought home the dogs. One dog was named Prince and the other was Bojangles. Well the ride home was interesting. Bojangles wanted to be by me the most of the trip home. Let me put it in the words of Bojangles.
Bojangles here, here is my story.
Friday was a sad yet joyful day for me. Prince and me were at the Vets office in the back. We both missed our former owners soooo much. They were our trainers and care takers. And then one of the workers came and got us. And guess what! They were there. Prince and I were so happy to see him. And they petted us and petted us. When they were standing I jumped up so that I could give them a hug. Oh I had missed them so. And yet seeing them again brought me a happiness I couldn't explain. There were three other people there. Pastor Tim and his wife and Pastor Bob. Prince and I said hello to them but we were more interested in Kimberly and Barry.
After leaving the Vets office a strange thing happened. We were taken to Pastor Tim's van. We got in and the next thing I know we are driving somewhere with Pastor Tim, his wife Kim, and Pastor Bob. I like Pastor Bob. I don't know why but I do. So I went and got on his lap. He petted me. He hugged me. He talked to me. I felt I needed to stay with him. I stayed by him the whole trip. I even tried to sit on his lap! Prince stayed in the back most of the time. And every once in a while he would try to get Pastor Bob to pet him. I then had to stand between him and Prince to let him Prince know that Pastor Bob was mine.
Well we got to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Portage, IN and there was another dog there. It was Fuerst. He is my cousin and Prince's son. We had a wonderful time running around with Fuerst. And then I could see that Pastor Bob was ready to go. So I got into his car. He drove for what seemed a long time to me. He kept talking about his son Mitch. I couldn't wait to meet him. Well we finally got home and Pastor Bob let me in the house. Mitch was on the phone. I scared him. I thought that was funny. I like Mitch. He wants to throw the ball and have me fetch. He also takes me for walks. My walks are faster with him than with Pastor Bob. I think its because Pastor Bob is older and can't move as fast as Mitch..
Today I am with Pastor Bob in the office. He says he has to work so I am laying underneath his desk. I met the town Vet, Dr. Bob and two police officers already. And I have met a few of the members of Saint Paul. I like it here. Pastor Bob is getting a digital camera and he will be uploading photos in the near future. I will write more later. Bojangles.
Bojangles is a Golden Retriever who is trained to be a Comfort Dog. A Comfort dog is a dog that wants to be petted and brings the compassion and mercy of Christ to those he comes in contact with. He is used in situations where a crisis has occurred. Many people love pets and are comforted by the special love of these dogs. He comes to us by way of Lutheran Church Charities. http://www.lutheranchurchcharities.org/ out of Addison, Illinois. If you are a member of Saint Paul and wish this ministry to start and want to support please see me, Pastor Bob. Bojangles will be able to go to many places with me in the very near future. Bojangles and I look forward to our ministry together.

Freedom of Choice?
This past weekend I spent time at a Right to Life banquet and a Luncheon. Friday was the banquet. The speaker was excellent and inspiring. It made me think of how little I support the Right to Life. I rarely do anything to defend the unborn baby. I am apathetic or maybe in this case the better word is pathetic. There were two teenagers that gave their oratory speeches for the Right to Life. It was very moving to hear these young women defend the life of the unborn child.
The luncheon was at a pizza place on Sunday and they had the #1 winner for the state of Indiana in the oratory competition on speaking about Right to Life issues. She is 17 years old and had a very fine speech on the evils of abortion. It is inspiring to have young adults speaking this way and even more so defending helpless humans.
The one thing that appalled me was the discussion of making doctors who object to abortion perform them. Thus leaving them no choice but to violate the law of God and conscience or be removed as a doctor by the law of the land. The so called land of the free called the US Government. FOCA - The Freedom of Choice Act that President Obama wants to sign and Mrs Hilary Rodman Clinton is for is about protecting the right of the mother of an unborn child to choose death for that child; it does not protect the right of a doctor to choose life for that same unborn child. It seems to me that there is the double standard. One group of people get to have the freedom to make their choice and another group of people get no freedom of theirs'. And I am not even talking about the unborn child's choice which is never asked for. They are the victim more so then the uniformed mother who is getting the abortion.
Perhaps we should change FOCA to FOCAFTSF - Freedom of Choice Act for the Select Few. The select few are really those who choose fun and pleasure over responsibility for helpless humans who need them. Again it is a choice of death. We really need to wake up and fight this culture of death. WE MUST PROTECT THE UNBORN.
