I have been in communication with Michelle Sheetz regarding the old church records. I am trying to document my family's information. My grandparents, Nels (Nils) and Mary Skoog (Skog) Hanson (Hansson) were married in 1887 after February in the US. (They were born in Sweden) They may have been married at St. Paul. I do know that their children were born in Kouts. Emory in March,1888 and Edward in July 1889. They were not members at Immanual in Valpo. They were Swedish and of the Lutheran faith. By 1891, they were living in Chicago,IL. While in Kouts, Nels worked for an English farmer.
I first wrote to Michelle in 2007. On her email to me March 18, 2009, she said she would look for the records "in a week or two." (If they are in German, we will be able to have them translated.) I hope she hasn't been ill because I have not had a response f
